Accessibility Statement
Ilya Magnes is responsible for building and running ilyamagnes.com. He considers it important to offer the same service to everyone, and to keep improving it for people with disabilities.
01Commitment to accessibility
The site has been made accessible so that it is available, friendly and easy to use for people with disabilities: motor disabilities, low vision, blindness and colour blindness, hearing loss and cognitive disabilities, as well as for older visitors.
This follows Israel’s Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments to Service) Regulations, 5773-2013.
02Level of accessibility
The site was built to meet Israeli Standard IS 5568 at level AA, which is based on the W3C’s WCAG 2.0 guidelines, as far as possible.
It is adapted to the common browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and to desktop, tablet and phone screens.
03Using the accessibility toolbar
An accessibility button sits in the bottom corner of the screen. Pressing it opens the accessibility menu. Pressing an option again turns it off, and all settings can be reset at once.
The toolbar works in English and in Hebrew, following the language of the page.
04What the toolbar offers
- Ready-made profiles: low vision, blindness, epilepsy and seizure safety, focus (ADHD).
- Bigger text, a text magnifier, line and letter spacing, font weight and a readable font.
- Dark, light and high contrast, monochrome and saturation.
- Highlighted links and highlighting of every clickable element.
- A large cursor, a reading line and a reading mask.
- Keyboard navigation, skip to content, stop animations and hide images.
- Text alignment.
05Adjustments made on the site
- A consistent, hierarchical heading structure on every page.
- Full keyboard navigation (Tab, Enter, and Esc to close windows and menus).
- Alternative text for the images of the works.
- The right reading direction in each language: right to left in Hebrew, left to right in English.
- Videos and audio play only when pressed, with play and pause controls.
- A layout adapted to different screens and resolutions.
06Accessibility at the studio and at events
Workshops, evenings and visits take place at Ilya Magnes’s studio, Horev 9, Haifa. Anyone who needs an accessibility arrangement is welcome to get in touch in advance, and Ilya Magnes will do everything he can to make taking part possible.
07Information in an accessible format
Information on the site can be provided free of charge in an accessible format (for example as read-aloud text or a large-print document), on request.
08Exceptions
Despite these efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible, mainly archive material: scans of works and their descriptions, and videos and recordings of performances that have no captions. The site keeps improving; anyone who runs into a difficulty is welcome to get in touch and receive the information another way.
